About IAMI

IAMI – Indian Association for Medical Informatics

The Indian Association for Medical Informatics (IAMI) was established in 1993 as a non-government professional organization. Presently, the IAMI membership is more than 550 and it comprises of clinicians of all specialties, dentists, nurses, information technologists, scientists, bio-medical engineers and other para-medical technologists besides many IT vendors, medical and health institutes, organizations, nursing homes and clinics who realized the need to sensitize more Indian Medical fraternity to all the benefits of Information Technology (IT) in health care and facilitate IT adoption in all the areas of patient care.

IAMI also has dynamic regional chapters in many states which are independent units and are locally very active. Key positions in major public and private sector health care institutions are held by IAMI members and they form the actual decision makers in policy issues relating to IT applications in health care. Indian Journal of Medical Informatics (IJMI) is the official organ of the IAMI and is indexed in Pubmed.
